TF Community

TF Community is where you'll find articles about the growth and future of Tastyfresh.com. It isn't so much about what the community is doing as it is where it will be going.

Expanding Our Community

There is no disputing that Tastyfresh.com is an international community. It always has been and always will. The only problem with it being international is that we have not built a local community at the same time. This has always been a concern of mine. In the past, we've tried local message boards, but either they were never used or the people using them never interacted with the other boards. We've tried to push the idea of groove fellowship, local groups who would meet once a month, but there wasn't a good way of recruiting or coordinating these efforts. We've even tried to promote labels and artists as well through links and profile listings, but that content kept getting out of date faster than we could update it.

Every New Beginning is Some Other Beginning's End

That line in "Closing Time" by Semisonic has been one that has stuck with me for years. Not in the forefront of my mind, but somewhere in the dark recesses of it. Today as I started to think through how I was going to write this post it just floated back up. On the surface, it may seem like a simple statement that could be dismissed as a late night ramble that rhymes and works well with the song, but it truly is a deep statement and it accurately describes what I want to share with you now.

Help Wanted: It's Time to Grow Again

One thing I had planned to do at Cornerstone was to have a nice long chat with the Tastyfresh.com crew who showed up about the direction of the site. As usual, we simply ran out of time. In the two months of chaos that followed,  we had that chat on the boards. We've got a pretty good idea of where we want to go in the near future, and I want to share it all with you but just yet.

Changes in the Magazine

From the Editor.From the Editor

So, I am super late… I know. It has been a crazy 2 weeks for me. Just this last Tuesday I moved back to England to work with Youth With A Mission. But that is enough of me, let’s get down to business. I know that some of you are thinking right now, “What is going on here?” Well, as you can see, Tastyfresh.com is again going through a bit of a transition period. You have already seen some of it with the changes in the podcast. These changes have come in response to the community survey that we had you take for us several months ago. I wanted to share with you really quickly about the changes we made and the changes we are looking at changing.

Tastyfresh.com 2008 Community Survey

It’s been about 5 years since our last survey and much about Tastyfresh.com has changed. We are very interested in your opinion of us and the direction that you think we should go in. When we last performed a survey, we had just barely started the magazine. We didn’t have a podcast. Reviews were just something that was nice to have rather than a staffed department. We also didn’t put on shows. Things certainly have changed at this site, and there is no doubt in my mind that we will be changing again over the next five years. This is why this survey is so important.

Welcome to the new Tastyfresh.com!

Welcome to the new Tastyfresh.com! If you’re a regular to Tastyfresh.com, I bet you are thinking to yourself, “Wow.” And I completely understand. When I first saw the initial design months ago I thought the same thing. In those months, I have seen the evolution of the site to what it is right now and every time Dave informed me of a change, I got more excited. “But what is the real difference?” you may say. I am glad you asked.
